On July 3, new Viva artist Atasha Muhlach recounted her fondest childhood memories in Batangas.
During the media event for her contract signing with Viva Artist Agency at the Viva Cafe in Cubao, Quezon City, Muhlach highlighted how their parents provided them with a ‘normal’ childhood.
“I wouldn’t say it’s hard, if anything actually, I really look up to them, and growing up, it didn’t feel like that. We had a very normal childhood. They [made sure] that we experienced a [normal] life, a [normal] school, playing sports, and even my friends and the people around me–we’re never [got] treated as such. And so, because growing up, we grew up in the province, in Batangas. So we really got to experience all these things.”
She also detailed some childhood memories she had with her twin brother Andres.
“Me and my brother–we were given an allowance every weekend, of course. So, we go out to the sari-sari store, [and] we get the plastic balloons–and we would always [have a competition] of who would get to make the [biggest] plastic balloons. And then jackstones– and we [go] find Fudgee Bars, all the time.
“And we actually have a hack wherein you would put the Fudgee Bar in the microwave and then a mug with ice cream. It’s really yummy–it’s really yummy. And we would always get pandecoco in the bakeries, and sometimes we would get lucky that we would get crinkles, panderegla.”
Aside from her fond childhood memories, Muhlach also narrated how she got into music and singing.
“It was something like–growing up, my mom and my dad said, ‘Why don’t you learn piano?’ And from there, I actually really enjoyed that– playing the piano. And then, eventually, I ventured out into singing, into recitals in my school. I would join the school productions.”
She also revealed that she got a part in the Sound of Music Theatrical Production in Resorts World Manila.
“And then one day, my said, ‘Let’s go to Resorts World and you’re going to have an audition.’ And I had no idea what it was for, so I just walked in, started singing, and they accepted me, thankfully.
“I was ten years old, and luckily they accepted me, and I met the whole cast– for Sound of Music in Resorts World, and from there, we did two months of rehearsals, and [we we’re] performing for eight months straight.”
Muhlach is one of the twin children of veteran actor Aga Muhlach and beauty queen Charlene Gonzales. Her twin brother is Andres.
Muhlach focused on her studies and finished business school in Nottingham, United Kingdom, as part of her parents’ wishes before she entered showbiz.
She has formally signed with the Viva Artist Agency to begin her career in the Philippines Entertainment industry.
