In an unexpected turn of events, social media influencer Valentine Rosales drew flak as he involved himself in the ongoing controversy surrounding Filipino comedian Awra Briguela.
After initially issuing an apology video to Briguela, Rosales quickly retracted his statement upon watching another video that seemingly revealed Briguela as the instigator of the Poblacion bar brawl.
On June 28, Rosales expressed his disappointment and disapproval of Briguela’s aggressive altercation with Mark Christian Ravana, as evidenced by widely circulated photos from that fateful day.
However, Rosales faced swift backlash from netizens who accused him of unnecessary interference and advised him to refrain from making such remarks.
Gaia Polyhimnia, another social media influencer, humorously criticized Rosales for involving himself in the situation, stating, “How do i make this about myself. Unahin muna maintenance ng veneers kesa makialam sa buhay ng iba.”
“si awra ang nakipagsuntukan pero bakit si valentine ang naka mouthpiece???”.
One netizen then commented, “At least di mamamatay tao si Awra ”
Attempting to make amends, Rosales released an apology video on June 29, expressing regret for his insensitive comment towards Awra.
However, on June 30, a video shared by Filipino businessman Xian Gaza seemingly contradicted Rosales’ earlier stance. The footage showed Briguela initiating the conflict by forcefully demanding that an individual remove their shirt, escalating the situation further.
In a surprising twist, a friend of Rosales, whose identity remains undisclosed, shared a video corroborating the claim that Briguela was indeed the instigator.
Prompted by this evidence, Rosales retracted his initial apology video on Facebook and posted the video shared by his friend, alongside a caption stating, “Binabawi ko yung Apology Video ko, Pero papanindigan ko yung hindi na uli ako sasawsaw sa anomang issue last issue na sasawsawan ko na to. At please stop na sa pag tatawag sakin ng mga Kontrabidang anime characters nakakarindi na kasi.”
It is worth noting that Rosales was previously involved in the Christine Dacera case in 2021, where he was accused of wrongdoing. However, he successfully fought and won the legal battle, resulting in the dismissal of the charges against him.
While no official statement has been released by Briguela’s camp regarding these recent developments, it is anticipated that more information will emerge soon.
Briguela was released from jail on July 1 after posting bail amounting to Php 6,000.
