The Kapamilya executive acknowledged the transfer of the longest-running Kapamilya noon time show to GTV as a sign of the changing dynamics on TV viewership.
ABS-CBN TV Production and Star Magic Head, Laurenti M. Dyogi, expressed optimism about the most recent landmark block time deal between ABS-CBN and GMA Network. The new agreement will allow the airing of longest-running Kapamilya noontime show, ‘It’s Showtime,’ on the Kapuso channel, GTV, beginning July 1.
During the contract signing event attended by officials of both networks and the hosts themselves last June 27 at the Seda Hotel, Dyogi shared his excitement for the surprising turn in the journey of ‘It’s Showtime.’
“Exciting times! Di naman natin akalain. This was never planned, but I suppose there was divine intervention in all of these things. Maraming salamat sa blessings at sa mga nag-wewelcome sa atin,” he said, expressing his gratitude to GMA Network.
On the heels of such historic collaboration, theories about what may come next in ABS-CBN and GMA Network’s partnership continues to emerge. “It’s growing, it’s really really growing. We don’t know what the future holds. As for us, we’re all excited. We’re all looking forward to all other collaborations with GMA,” he shared.
There are unverified reports that suggest a big crossover between TAPE Inc’s ‘Eat Bulaga!’ and ABS-CBN’s ‘It’s Showtime’ is set to happen soon. Dyogi did not confirm such speculation but he teased about a big opening number for the pilot episode of ‘It’s Showtime’ on GTV featuring Kapuso and Kapamilya stars.
“Well, exciting. Sabado pa lang, there’s an exciting line up of artists, sasama ang mga Kapuso at Kapamilya artists doon. Isa yan sa mga aabangan natin,” he told the press.
Dyogi believes that the local entertainment scene is undergoing an exciting phase, one that will benefit the viewing public and the industry itself.
“Actually, it’s been changing already in the past few years, from the COVID to what happened to ABS-CBN, and now with the movements on noontime, talagang dynamic ang ating landscape ngayon. I think, sabi nga ng karamihan, ang mag-bebenefit naman dito ay audience,” he added.
Before the transfer of ‘It’s Showtime’ to GTV, ABS-CBN and GMA Network have been actively engaged in different collaboration projects, including the currently-airing primetime series ‘Unbreak My Heart’ and several upcoming co-production projects from the two former rivals.
