The new Kapuso afternoon drama series ‘Luv Is: Love at First Read (LAFR)’ seems to have had a disappointing start as it recorded underwhelming ratings during its pilot week.
It appears that LAFR was unable to retain the strong viewership of ‘Family Feud,’ the show it replaced.
On Friday, June 16, LAFR’s ratings took a downward turn as it only achieved 4.6 percent, the lowest pre-primetime rating for GMA Network, which previously garnered over 10 percent when ‘Family Feud’ still held the timeslot.
Prior to this decline, the series starring Mavy Legaspi and Kyline Alcantara had already shown a downward trend.
On Monday, June 12, LAFR registered a pilot rating of 7.4 percent, placing 8th on the overall rating leaderboard.
The following day, Tuesday, June 13, LAFR dropped to the 10th spot with a rating of 5.4 percent.
On Wednesday, June 14, the series maintained its ranking and rating percentage at 5.4.
However, there was a slight recovery on Thursday, June 15, with a rating of 6.2 percent, before it experienced a significant decline on Friday, reaching 4.6 percent.
Pre-primetime programming serves as an important lead-in to the network’s primetime lineup. The poor performance of LAFR in the ratings game may explain the sudden decline in the rating of ’24 Oras’ on Friday, June 16, as it dropped to 12.5 percent and slid to the number 2 spot on the overall rating chart.
Can LAFR redeem itself in the coming weeks, or will it continue to post poor ratings and pull GMA Network’s primetime lineup down the hill?
