On June 13, seasoned actress Deborah Sun cautioned younger stars about drug abuse.
During the story conference for Unspoken Letters at the Limbaga 77 Cafe Restaurant in Quezon City, Sun advised her younger co-stars in their upcoming film using her personal experience.
“Pinagdaanan ko sa buhay basta hindi maganda. Kayong lahat alam ninyo naman ‘yan kaya ang huli kong ano is the Kokak, mga ten years na ata akong walang trabaho, since 2011, something like that.
“So, kumbaga dahil nga ang dating sa tao, dahil nag-drugs ako, kaya akala nila galit agad.”
She highlighted how she turned things around at the age of 64.
She also thanked her manager, Tyrone Escalante, for giving her a second chance in showbiz.
“Which is ngayon, may nagtiwala sa akin na kumuha, na alagaan ako, na hawakan ako, si Tyrone. Si Tyrone talaga, na kumbaga, hahawakan niya daw ako, which is thank you very much dahil nagtiwala siya sa akin.
Thank you Mar, and direk Pao also, may ginawa kaming movie na indie rin. Thank you talaga.”
In 2019, Sun got arrested by the Quezon City Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at a drug buy-bust operation in Quezon City.
