The phenomenal P-POP group makes their foray into self-management, an era of their sensational career that marks the beginning of their exciting journey to self-discovery and exploration of new venues and opportunities.
There is no wonder in SB19 being recognized as the reigning P-POP kings, given the unparalleled milestones that they have so far accomplished since getting launched five years ago. This year, they are taking on another gargantuan endeavor, one that challenges not just their own standard but that of the whole industry.
Talking about the new chapter in their career as a self-managing group, SB19 excited the press and their fans when they released the new EP, ‘Pagtatag,’ last June 9. The new extended play is the second installment in a planned trilogy that began with the very successful EP, ‘Pagsibol.’ ‘Pagtatag’ is the group’s very first release under their self-managed company 1Z Entertainment. It highlights the group’s move toward greater autonomy as they officially navigate their own journey to bigger stardom, all by themselves.
Pablo Nase, the group’s frontman and main composer, sees the move as an effort to elevate the already convention-defying sound that they have presented to the Philippines and the world.
“Parang now that we have control and the people that we trust, the quality can only get better and better. And with the power of the people who believe in us, talagang hindi malayo na makilala talaga ‘yung music ng Philippines,” he shared, teasing what’s next about what they can offer to the industry.
“Talagang push lang nang push, pero siyempre sana suportahan kami. We’re really thankful that we are in this position right now. We’re really excited to do different things and share our knowledge with other artists,” Nase added.
Part of this move, according to the group’s youngest member Justin de Dios, is allowing the members of the quintet to explore the different fields of entertainment.
“Actually we are, like na-mention ni Pablo na, sana may ibang field din kaming ma-try bukod sa music, as artists and as performers. Lagi namang napag-uusapan namin ‘yun, na SB19 sa acting, theater, kahit actually, hosting ganon. Parang gusto lang namin ma-experience so that we can learn more about it and ma-apply namin ‘yung experience na ‘yun to improve our company 1Z,” de Dios teased.
Stellvester Ajero, known to his fans as simply Stell, meanwhile, shared how far their new management can go in terms of exploring possibilities. “For 1Z, of course, in the future naman, hindi lang SB19 ang magiging focus niya. Siguro, parang right now, we have plans na to build bigger things with 1Z…” he shared.
To further stake their claim to self-autonomy, SB19 is set to take the world stage once more with a series of concerts and events in different locations in the Philippines and North America. Following the release of ‘Gento’ which has spawned a global dance craze, the group recently launched the music video of their second ‘Pagtatag’ single ‘I Want You.’
