Following the resignation of Eat Bulaga!’s former hosts, the long-running noontime show resumed its live broadcast on June 5 with a fresh lineup of entertainers.
The previous hosts, TVJ (Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon), along with Maine Mendoza, Ryan Agoncillo, Ryzza Mae Dizon, Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Paolo Ballesteros, and Allan K, departed TAPE Inc. after being denied the opportunity for a live broadcast on May 31. This internal conflict arose between the hosts and the new management of their production company.
Despite the loss of their beloved hosts, TAPE Inc. launched a revamped Eat Bulaga! featuring a new set of hosts, primarily Paolo Contis, Betong Sumaya, Buboy Villar, Cassy Legaspi, Mavy Legaspi, and Alexa Miro.
However, these changes were met with dissatisfaction from the show’s loyal viewers. The new hosts faced swift backlash as they struggled to meet the viewers’ expectations. Disappointed fans took to social media to express their unhappiness at the departure of their iconic hosts.
In the midst of the issue, several stars also shared their sentiments. One of them was veteran actress Vivian Velez, who posted a viral Facebook message on June 5, reflecting her thoughts on the matter.
Velez posted a screenshot of a GMA Network article featuring the new hosts of the show with the caption,
Currently, numerous netizens persist in rejecting the new hosts of Eat Bulaga!, and certain fans are eagerly anticipating TVJ’s transfer to TV5, where they intend to create their own version of Eat Bulaga!.
This situation raises questions about the future of the longest-running noontime show. How will it be affected by the ongoing resistance towards the new hosts and the potential competition from TVJ’s upcoming project? Will Eat Bulaga! be able to maintain its longstanding popularity and viewership amidst these challenges?
