Betong Sumaya, the new Eat Bulaga! host succeeding the iconic TVJ (Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon) and other mainstays, got bashed in his Tiktok live after it got swarmed with former Eat Bulaga! Loyal viewers.
In his TikTok live, Sumaya addressed the issue of the long-running noontime show’s new hosts and pleaded for netizens to “think before you click”.
Sumaya along with the rest of the show’s new entertainers received flak on social media after replacing the TVJ, JoWaPao (Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, and Paolo Ballesteros), Maine Mendoza, Ryzza Mae Dizon, Ryan Agoncillo, and Allan K, in the show’s hosting lineup.
Fans of the previous Eat Bulaga series did not receive the changes as it did not feel like ‘Eat Bulaga!’ anymore.
While some of the comments were supportive of the artist, there were still negative comments.
Sumaya reminded the viewers that it was their decision if they wanted to watch the show or not. He, then, thanked those who remained supportive and watched their show.
Queen of Comedy Aiai Delas Alas took notice of Sumaya’s Tiktok live and posted on her Instagram account words of support for the noontime show host on June 8. She posted a picture of them with the words, “Kindness is a gift everyone can afford to give”.
In the caption of the post, she wrote, “Bets @amazingbetong nakita kita sa tiktok malungkot ka, mahirap talaga yang sitwasyon nyo ngayun, bilang mang gagawa alam ko sumusunod kalang syempre , mabait kang tao , ma respeto sa senior sa yo.. isa ka sa mabait na artist na nakilala ko.”
She gave the noontime show host advice on how to overcome this challenge. She wrote, “dasal lang at tibayan mo ang loob mo.”
Delas Alas also reminded Sumaya to think of their comedic moments when the host feels sad.
“pag nalulungkot ka isipin mo na lang ilang beses ba naten kakantahin ang in New York Rio Tokyo –“or any other place you see, you feel that dancing fantasy” na hindi tayo nag kakamali sa phrasing haha.😂”, The Queen of Comedy wrote.
Delas Alas concluded her message with, “God bless you ipag patuloy mo lang na maging mabait si Lord ang bahala ❤️“
