The episode saw the fierce gunfight between Tanggol’s (Coco Martin) group and Greg Montenegro’s (RK Bagatsing) group.
FPJ’s Batang Quiapo delivered a gripping, adrenaline-driven episode, last night, May 29, which had many loyal viewers glued to their TV screens and gadgets, throughout the show’s more than an hour of airtime. The anticipation for the top-rating action-drama was apparent in its record-breaking live concurrent viewership on Kapamilya Online Live.
On Youtube, the live concurrent viewers of the show hit more than 372,600, which is nearly 40,000 higher than the record set by the pilot episode on February 13. Combined with the viewers on Facebook, the Coco Martin-starrer peaked at nearly 400,000 live viewers. That’s already the highest viewership achieved by any ABS-CBN-produced show on Kapamilya Online Live, since FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’s finale episode on August 12, 2022.
Titled Tutukan, the episode showcased the breathtaking duel between Tanggol (Martin) and Greg (Bagatsing), to whom the latter ended up getting fatal gunshots. It remains to be seen, whether or not Bagatsing’s character survived. The episode also saw Tanggol’s family members, especially his adoptive father, Rigor (John Estrada), getting injured by Greg.
As already riveting as the action sequences may seem, viewers have not seen the fiercest turn in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’s events, as a bigger confrontation is poised to take place in the latter episodes. Tanggol is yet to face his biological father, Ramon (Christopher De Leon), who like Greg, has been trying to look for him. Such an event is undoubtedly going to draw potentially record-breaking viewers on Kapamilya Online Live, as well.
What is intriguing about such a record-breaking episode is its possibility to deliver the action drama a second win in the TV ratings game, against Kapuso series, Voltes V Legacy. FPJ’s Batang Quiapo recorded its first win on the Nielsen Philippines rating chart, last May 22, after pulling off a 0.1 lead over the Kapuso series, 12.6 to 12.5.
