In a touching moment on the popular noontime variety show, It’s Showtime, child star Argus delivered a heartfelt message to his father Michael, who is leaving the country for overseas work.
During the Isip Bata segment on May 26, Argus shared with Vice Ganda that his father’s departure was scheduled for May 27, touching the audience’s hearts.
When Vice asked Argus what he wanted to say to his father before he leaves, the young performer expressed his deep love and concern, requesting his dad not to leave the country.
Argus’s emotional plea showcased the bond between father and son, resonating with viewers and evoking a surge of empathy.
Michael, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), serves as a policeman in South Sudan. He departed on May 27 and will be away for two months.
The decision to work abroad is often driven by the abundance of career opportunities available in foreign countries, providing Filipinos the chance to support their families and secure a better future. While the Philippines offers its own career prospects, the limited job openings push many to seek work overseas.
Vice Ganda then asked Argus what they would be doing later before his dad leaves–he replied that he doesn’t want his dad to leave just yet as he can work for them.
“Wag muna po syang umalis kasi po nagtratrabaho na po ako rito,” Argus said.
Vice Ganda further engaged with Argus, explaining that it is not his responsibility, as a child, to provide for his family. The comedian assured him his father would not allow him to shoulder such a burden.
Vice’s compassionate response emphasized the importance of allowing children to be children and enjoy their youth without undue responsibility.
The heartfelt message delivered by Argus garnered widespread admiration and positive feedback online. Actress Kim Chiu took to Twitter to express her reaction, commending the young star for his genuine and tender words.
” Baby argus!!!!! ang buti buti ng puso ng bata!nakaka melt ng heart! Im gonna cry na!,” Kim tweeted.

What gets me the most is yung tumulo luha niya sa isang mata lang pero walang expression sa mukha niya.
Yes matalino siya and matured mag isip but still 5 years old pa lang siya. Hindi niya pa lubusang naiintindihan yung situation pero may lungkot pa rin siyang naramdaman. https://t.co/oYWSiDmIqJ pic.twitter.com/7Y988SWY9p
