Eat Bulaga host Vic Sotto revealed that TAPE, Inc. already settled its debt to him.
During the press conference of Sotto’s new sitcom Open 24/7 on May 8, he said that TAPE, Inc. already paid him.
“Okay na bayad na, buti na lang na-media.”
There were talks that the debt was around 30 million pesos.
Sotto added, “Oo, nabayaran na! It’s not a joke.
“Nabayaran na, thank you. Hindi ko naman inaasahan yun, kaya thank you na rin.”
When asked about the real amount of money TAPE, Inc. settled with him, the TV host quipped, “Secret.”
He then shared that he managed to keep his composure despite the production company’s debt to him because he started to host Eat Bulaga with little to no salary.
“Alam n’yo ang TVJ sanay na sa mga ganu’n, we’ve started halos wala kaming sinusuweldo. Sabi ko nga nu’ng isang araw, hindi naman pera-pera lang ang usapan, e.
“Mas mahalaga pa rin yung prinsipyo sa pera,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, when asked about the current issue of Eat Bulaga and TAPE, Inc., Sotto remained mum about it.
“I will comment on that when the time comes, sa tamang panahon.”
Recently, internal conflict between Eat Bulaga trio host TVJ (Tito, Vic, Joey) and TAPE, Inc., is became viral. Rumors had it, Romeo Jalosjos removed TAPE’s co-founder and CEO Antonio Tuviera, a long-time ally of TVJ, and threatened to “rebrand” the show without them.
Vic Sotto’s new sitcom Open 24/7 also stars Maja Salvador, Jose Manalo, Sparkle Sweethearts Sofia Pablo and Allen Ansay as well as Riel Lamodilla, Anjay Anson, Kimson Tan, Abed Green, and Bruce Roeland.
JR Reyes will direct the show under M-Zet Productions and air on May 27.
