Tiana Kocher is a singer-songwriter who comes from a family of politicians and artists.
While she acknowledges the expectations that come with being compared to her relatives who are also in the music industry, such as her late grandmother Armida Siguion-Reyna and cousin Chris Villonco, Tiana embraces the fact that their genres are different and looks up to them for inspiration.
During the press conference on Friday, April 21 at Delimondo Cafe, the singer shared, “I absolutely respect the love that they have when they pave such a way for themselves – A lot of them have classical and musical theater training, I do too, but in terms of my own — I think it’s very different genres, but I can also learn a lot from them.”
Her grandfather is former senate president Juan Ponce-Enrile; her uncle is the director Carlitos Siguion-Reyna; and her mother is Katrina Ponce-Enrile.
Despite her prominent family background, Tiana has carved out her name in the music industry. As an independent artist, she has gained over 6 million streams, with her debut single Just My Type reaching the Top 40 Indie Chart. Her songs Paint the Town and Swing Batter were even featured in a commercial for the film What Men Want.
“I think my mom just knew that I was gonna be performing. – I think she knew and she invested in me,” shared Tiana on having a supportive family, especially her mom.
Tiana also recently graduated from Full Sail University, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Music Business, and is part of the Grammy U and National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
In addition to her music career, Tiana has also shown her philanthropic side.
In April 2020, she teamed up with TikTok for a 30-day charity and community-driven contest called the #DontTripChallenge. The challenge, which involved dancing to her single Don’t Trip, raised over PHP 158,500 for both the Philippine and American Red Cross and generated over 12 million views.
