On March 11, Kapuso stars Bianca Umali and Ruru Madrid highlighted how they considered each other as their ‘time off’ from work.
At the media conference for their upcoming Viu and GMA Network series, The Write One, Madrid discussed the difference between being a real-life couple to working with each other on-screen.
“‘Yun at first, sanay kasi kami ni Bianca na kami ‘yung pahinga ng isa’t isa. Like, never naming pinag-usapan ‘yung trabaho. Never namin inisip na dapat na ba kami magka-trabaho.
“But because of this project, it’s great show, it’s a great concept, of course, kinausap rin kami ni Miss Garlic from Viu, na gusto nga niya kaming pagsamahin ni Bianca sa isang project, hindi namin talaga mahindian talaga ‘yun, kasi nakita namin ‘yun story. Sobrang ganda. At the same time, sobrang different din sa mga ginagawa namin.”
Madrid then praised Umali’s talent for acting.
“So at first, sobrang nahirapan ako, pero habang tumatagal na nagte-taping kami ni Bianca, ang dami kong natutunan sa kaniya. I mean she’s very talented na actress. Sobrang galing niya, she’s very professional pagdating sa trabaho. Sabi ko, hindi ako magsasawang makatrabaho ‘tong babaeng ‘to.”
As for Umali, she agreed with her beau, noting that working with each other felt weird since they considered spending time with each other as their respite.
“To share with everyone, actually noong una, lagi naman naming kinukwento na it was kind of weird for the both of us because in real life parang hindi kami sanay na magkatrabaho kami. Sanay kami na magkaiba ‘yung work namin and kapag rest day namin, kami ‘yung pahinga ng isa’t isa.”
She then thanked Viu and GMA Network for mounting the production.
“But this time it’s different, kasi kami naman ‘yung trabaho ng isa’t isa. Hindi na pahinga, trabaho na. So iba ‘yung experience. But so far, because of Viu and because of GMA Public Affairs, the journey has been wonderful.
“Sobra-sobra po ‘yung pasasalamat namin that we are given the opportunity to work with this project.”
As for their series, The Write One, the real-life Kapuso couple Madrid and Umali headline it.
The upcoming series also features Paul Salas, Mikee Quintos, Monching Gutierrez, Lotlot de Leon, Karenina Haniel, Analyn Barro, Yvette Sanchez, Eva Le Queen, Alma Concepcion, Mon Confiado, Kaloy Tingcungco, Migs Villasis, Euwenn Mikaell Aleta, and many more.
Under the direction of King Mark Baco, The Write One will premiere on March 20 via GMA Telebabad and early streaming on Viu on March 18.
