The ABS-CBN executives seemingly took a swipe at the actress over her recent grievances about how her home Network allegedly boxed her in projects with repetitive themes, genres, and co-actors.
Several Kapamilya executives took to Twitter to post something about being grateful. It notably came after homegrown Kapamilya star, Liza Soberano, released a vlog today, February 26, and detailed how her career went under ABS-CBN. Despite not naming Soberano, netizens are quick enough to assume the executives alluded to the 25-year-old actress.
In her latest vlog uploaded today, February 26, and titled, This Is Me, the actress announced her take off as a solo star, noting how her career under ABS-CBN boxed her into repetitive roles and leading men.
“I’m finally taking control of my life, pursuing dreams that I’ve always had to hold off on,” she declared.
ABS-CBN’s Star Music Head, Roxy Liquigan, reminded netizens about always being grateful.
“Be Grateful. Not just in good times, but at all times,” his tweet reads, which his followers perceived it as a swipe at Soberano’s statement.

Mico del Rosario, Star Creatives ad prom head and Rise Artists Studio head, also shared something about ABS-CBN’s massive contribution to her career.
“Hiyang hiya naman ako sa statements. parang walang walang naambag sayo at all ah. kayo talagang mga kayo. Hahahah,” he tweeted.
Soberano made a streak of projects under the Kapamilya drama unit, including top raters Forevermore (2014) and Dolce Amore (2016).

Meanwhile, former ABS-CBN head writer Mark Duane Angos, understood Soberano’s statement, and chose to see it differently and with a less serious take.
A friend asked me if I was hurt by Liza’s insinuation that we boxed her so hard that it drove her away from our industry. That’s a horrible take. What I got from the vlog was a person trying to figure herself out. To be fair, she’s only “starting to dip her toes into writing.”

He then argued that Liza will learn something from the negative responses earned by her statement, and will be wise enough to choose better words, next time.
“By the same token, she’s still trying to learn how to express herself better. So if she comes off hurtful to some of my colleagues, let’s be patient. She will be able to find the right words next time.”
He then stressed that he wasn’t hurt by Soberano’s statement, and wished the former Kapamilya actress luck in her future endeavors.

“So I wasn’t hurt. I’m actually more excited about what she will become. And I’m rooting for her with all my heart.
-love, from the writer who wrote all those teleserye episodes.”

As of this writing, ABS-CBN is yet to state its stance on Soberano’s insinuations.
