At the media conference for Season 2 of ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’ on January 16, Asia’s Limitless Star Julie Anne San Jose asserted how happy she is with the reaction of younger viewers to their Kapuso period fantasy.
San Jose cited how the cast and crew poured their hearts into the Kapuso series. She shared, “Siyempre nakakatuwang isipin at siyempre, nakakataba talaga ng puso kasi we really poured our hearts out dito sa project na ‘to. Again it’s a collaborative effort, it’s a collective effort.”
She added, “And hindi rin naman po namin magagawa ang lahat ng ito if it weren’t for the help everyone. If it weren’t for the teamwork of everybody. So thankful kami kasi nabigyan kami ng ganitong klaseng opportunity na maging kami ‘yung mga mukha ng mga characters sa Noli at El Fili.”
She then highlighted their goal of educating and influencing people through their teleserye. She said that the actors are not just to entertain to also to educate people, especially the students.
She then discussed her character’s story arc in the El Filibusterismo Saga of the series.
“So ‘yung isa sa mga changes po, as we’ve all read the book, ‘yung papasok sa kumbento si Maria Clara. So of course, kapag nasa kumbento ka na dedicated na ‘yung sarili mo, ‘yung buong pagkatao mo kay Lord, di ba? So sinakripisyo niya lahat, ‘yung buhay niya, ‘yung buong pagkatao niya, para lang ma-save ‘yung sarili niya.”
The actress stars in the Kapuso primetime teleserye Maria Clara at Ibarra alongside Dennis Trillo, Barbie Forteza, and David Licauco.
The period-fantasy series also added cast members for the El Filibusterismo Saga with Khalil Ramos, Kim De Leon, Julia Pascual, Arnold Reyes, and Pauline Mendoza.
Other stars in the series include Andrea Torres, Juancho Trivino, Tirso Cruz III, Rocco Nacino, Dennis Padilla, Chai Fonacier, Gilleth Sandico, Juan Rodrigo, Ces Quesada, Lou Veloso, and Kirst Viray.
Under the direction of Zig Dulay, the continuation of ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’ airs weeknights on GMA Telebabad after 24 Oras.
