Lolong stars Ruru Madrid and Arra San Agustin on Thursday, August 11, both admitted that there was a hint of awkwardness between them at the start of their locked-in taping for the series.
Madrid tried to court his co-star during their stint in the 2016 fantaserye Encantadia.
“Well, nakatrabaho ko si Arra when we were doing Encantadia. After po noon…well I guess it’s safe to say na noong time ng Encantadia, I tried na ligawan siya,” he confessed during the virtual media conference of the show that included LionhearTV among other select members of the media.
The series was their last project together, which Lolong followed, six years later.
During those years, they realized that they were better off as friends.
“Mas matanda na po kami ngayon. Kumbaga, ‘yung ligaw-ligawan na iyan dati, parang na-realize namin na, I mean ever since naman, parang napagdesisyunan namin na better kaming magkaibigan kaysa ‘yung kung ano mang something na mabuo pa. Kahit na nangyari itong Lolong, mas lumalim ang friendship naming dalawa…kung ano man ang nangyari sa past,” he explained.
That realization was not enough of a reason not to feel any awkwardness. But Madrid pointed out that such feelings should not prevent them from making Lolong a good show.
“At first, actually, may ilangan. Pero sabi namin, parang ayaw naming masayang ang project because of that ilangan. So mas nangibabaw ang pagiging magkaibigan namin dito not just with me and Arra but also sa lahat ng cast na bumubuo ng Lolong.”
San Agustin added that she focused entirely on the project rather than the history between her and her co-actor.
The actor’s attempt to date her eventually turned out to be a teasing moment for them to “loosen up.”
“‘Yung pang-aasar nila, nakakatulong naman. Kasi at least naglu-loosen up ‘yung bawat isa, hahaha,” stated the actress.
In the meantime, Madrid is believed to be in a relationship with Kapuso actress Bianca Umali. San Agustin, on the other hand, is with PBA cager Juami Tiongson.
