TV Director Don Michael Perez wished on Thursday, July 28, that his latest project, Return to Paradise, could have been slated in the evening instead of its current timeslot in the GMA Network’s Afternoon Prime.
“Why not? Kasi siyempre kapag primetime, mas maraming makakanuod, maraming nasa bahay,” he said during the virtual media conference of the show.
However, Perez clarified that he was contented with being slated in the afternoon. Though there was a difference in the target market between the afternoon and evening timeslot, the director said both have successful TV ratings.
“But at the same time, I’m happy that it’s in Afternoon Prime. Kasi iba rin naman ang market ng Afternoon Prime. Kumbaga, kaya nga siya tinawag na Afternoon Prime, primetime na rin naman na siya. Dahil ang dami ring nanunuod, ang taas din ng ratings ng Afternoon Prime. Kaya I’m happy with that timeslot.”
Furthermore, they will follow the successful Raising Mamay, a show he also produced.
“And I’m proud to say na we’re replacing Raising Mamay na kami rin ang gumawa. Kaya we’re riding on the success of Raising Mamay. Kaya ‘yon, happy, masaya.”
Return to Paradise stars Derrick Monasterio and Protegé finalist Elle Villanueva. It also includes seasoned actors Eula Valdez, Teresa Loyzaga, Ricardo Cepeda, Allen Dizon, and Paolo Paraiso. Kiray Celis, Karel Marquez, and Mia Pangyarihan were also included in the cast.
The series will begin airing on GMA Network’s Afternoon Prime beginning August 1.
