On Wednesday, June 22, showbiz columnist Lolit Solis argued that Robin Padilla’s win as a senator could mean that other celebrities wanting to join politics has a chance to grab a government post in 2025.

Although some celebrities did not win, many were lucky enough, like Arjo Atayde, now the 1st District congressman of Quezon City. Aiko Melendez and Alfred Vargas are now councilors in the city’s 5th district.
Former TV host Kiko Rustia, and actress Angelu de Leon, has been proclaimed as councilor of Pasig’s first and second districts, respectively.
In Manila, actor Yul Servo bested fellow actor Raymond Bagatsing to be the vice mayor of Manila. Comedian Lou Veloso, on the other hand, won as Manila’s 6th district councilor.
Pinoy Big Brother housemates Ejay Falcon and Niña Jose-Quiambao also succeeded in their respective bids. The former is now Vice Governor of Oriental Mindoro, while the latter replaced her husband as the new mayor of Bayambang town in Pangasinan.
Celebrity couple Lucy Torres-Gomez and Richard Gomez were also victors in the recently held elections, with the wife as the new mayor of Ormoc City and the husband, now a Leyte 4th district congressman.
With these successes, Solis believed more celebrities would join politics in the next election.
