Cesar Montano came to the defense of Robin Padilla after the latter ranked number one in the senatorial race of the 2022 elections.
The partial and unofficial result of the elections has Robin Padilla as the number one ranking senator with more than 26 million votes.
Some netizens then criticized Padilla as they questioned his ability in politics as a former action star.
In a Facebook post in May 2022, Cesar defended Robin from bashers saying that the voters choose his friend and the results should be respected.
“Our incoming Senator Robin Padilla is number 1 because of the majority number of votes of the Filipino people. Tayo pong lahat yun, bumoto sa kanya o hindi, tayo yun.
“We have to respect it, the way you want your own right to get respected. Hindi naman nangyayari po yung gusto ng isa eh gusto rin ng lahat. Pero kailangan natin irespeto ang napili ng nakararami. Batas po yan ng tao at batas din ng Diyos,” he said.
Cesar also explained that his friend has a lot of experience in public service and that people should not judge him too quickly.
“Naniniwala po ako na marami pong maitutulong si Sen. Robin sa bansa natin. I saw him how he helped and supported the needy & under-privileged filipino people several times noong sya po ay isang simpleng artista lamang. I am a living witness.
“Hindi lang po nya ugali ang ipag-ingay sa media kapag tumutulong sya. Unless other people do it for him. But he doesn’t toot his own horn. Sa simpleng pagkatao nya, alam nya ang tunay na problema ng mga Pilipinong mabababa at hirap. At may solusyon si kapatid na Sen Robin sa mga ito.
“We all know we had senators from past & even present, matatalino at mga abogado pa ang iba. Pero walang ginawa kundi mamulitika & all selfish ambitious agenda. Pinagsisihan natin ang pagboto sa kanila.
“Maliwanag po na hindi lamang katalinuhan o diploma ang hinahanap nating katangian para sa ating mga karapatdapat na senador sa ating bansa. Kundi may tunay at ginintuang puso para sa karapatan ng mga mamayang Pilipino.
“Lalu na para sa mga inaaping mga manggagawa, mangingisda, at mga magsasaka. Hintayin lang po natin kapag nakaupo na si Sen. Robin.
“It’s unfair to judge him now.
“Mabuhay ka Kapatid na Senator Robin Padilla !!! Marami kami na nagmamahal sa ’yo,” said Cesar.
Meanwhile, Robin Padilla admitted that he did not expect to lead the senatorial race. He then promised to be more vocal during his time as a Senator than when he was still a celebrity.
