Cherie Gil announced that she chose Vice President Leni Robredo as her presidential bet in a facebook post on Friday, May 6.
She urged everyone to vote wisely as the country needs rescuing and nurturing.
“!!!! Vote wisely PLLLEEEASEE 🙏🏼 GOD bless the philippines w it’s love and peace Like a mothers LOVE. OUR GENTLE FRAGILE SOULS NEED RESCUING AND NURTURIng ONCE AND FOR ALL,” Gil wrote in the caption.
“True leaders show up and man up,” the caption of her shared post said.
“The President that we need is someone who rushes to be with you when you’re suffering, who is ready to sacrifice to help you, who is ready to face anyone to fight for you,” it wrote in the quote card.
Gil began her career as a child actress at the age of 9 and has received numerous accolades throughout her career. She is best known for her role as Lavinia Arguelles in Bituing Walang Ningning where she uttered the iconic line “You’re nothing but a second-rate, trying hard copycat!” to Dorina, Sharon Cuneta’s character. She has appeared in several hit teleseryes and primetime shows on ABS-CBN and GMA Network.
Gil was part of 83 awardees of the Ani ng Dangal Award by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), representing the cinema category on February 29, 2016.
In February 2022, Gil revealed she moved to New York to be with her family.
