On April 8, Viva artist Angela Morena admitted she reads online criticisms about her acting.
During the media conference for Iskandalo, Morena recalled an online criticism about her emotion during acting.
“Mahilig kasi talaga ako magbasa ng reviews, comments online, lalo na ‘yung mga movies ko na nagawa ko. Siguro ‘yung pinaka-worse I don’t know if it was a criticism, pero wala raw emotion ‘yung acting.”
She noted that criticisms help her gauge and adjust her acting for future projects.
“And then ang ginawa ko, pinanood ko ulit ‘yung movie, ‘ah okay baka sa part na ito walang emotion, kasi wala naman talagang emotion ‘yung character. Baka lang hindi talaga naintindihan ‘yung movie.’ Sabi kong ganon.
“Pero, I’ll make sure next time sige, lalagyan ko na ng emotion.”
Morena also revealed that her inspiration in entering showbiz is her Aunt Lara Morena.
“Si Tita Lara Morena, so sexy star siya, ’90s. Na-inspired ako kasi talagang pangarap niya sa aming makakapatid ni Stephanie, ni Micaella, na maging artista.
“Actually, bago ako pumasok, tinanong niya muna ako, “Kaya mo ba?” Ayan so tinanong niya muna ako. So ‘yung eight years ago na pangarap na mag-artista nangyayari na ngayon.”
She also reacted to people calling her a ‘pantasya ng bayan.’
“Compliment ‘yung masabihan kang pantasya. Lalo na ako, sobrang saya ko and I take it in a positive way. Kahit na kapag sinabing pantasya kasi puro bastos ganon, hubaran parang kami, ‘no.’ Pantasya, it’s amazing masarap sa pakiramdam na pinagpapantasyahan ka kasi hindi naman lahat pinagpapantasyahan nga mga tao. So I feel privileged.”
She then addressed detractors of their series Iskandalo.
“Sa mga nagsasabing puro hubaran ang Iskandalo, walang kwento, Try niyo kayang panoorin kasi mahirap mag-judge ng hindi pa pinapapanood pa talaga.”
Angela Morena stars in Iskandalo alongside Cindy Miranda, Jamilla Obispo, Ayanna Misola, and AJ Raval in their sexy and gritty 10-part series directed by Roman Perez Jr.
Iskandalo premiered on Vivamax on April 10 and with new episodes each week.
