Kapamilya celebrities Angel Locsin and Daniel Padilla reacted to a cruel act committed by six policemen, who attacked and robbed a helpless street vendor in Caloocan on April Fool’s Day.
Based on the CCTV footage, the vendor was on his way to buy dinner for his family when suddenly six policemen cornered and attacked him. Allegedly, the cops also robbed the P14,000 cash in his wallet, which was livelihood assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Caloocan police chief Colonel Samuel Mina confirmed that these cops are under his command and are part of the anti-drug enforcement unit. However, according to them, they inspected the vendor as part of the protocol since they were conducting an anti-illegal drug operation.
“They vehemently denied the accusation… Kasi sabi lang nila, chineck nila yung body bag nya. Kasi umaaligid sya sa legitimate na anti-drug operations. Standard procedure nila na i-verify kung sino sya, chineck body bag nya, Kinuha mga IDs nya,” the chief said.

Locsin pointed out that these citizens should be protected by the government, not harmed.
Padilla also stressed that these policemen abused their authority and power as law enforcers.
The cops involved were suspended from their respective posts and faced criminal charges.
The anti-drug campaign was one of the flagship programs of the Duterte administration. However, the enforcers of this program tend to abuse their power, resulting in extra-judicial killings (EJK).
Meanwhile, both Locsin and Padilla are supporters of the Presidential aspirant, Vice President Leni Robredo.
