Multimedia Princess Nadine Lustre shared an experience on Thursday, March 31, that taught her to be extra careful in choosing who to be friends with.
“As for first-hand experience, medyo malala kasi in all aspects, relationship as well. Kasi that person used to be my friend,” started Lustre during her comeback film Greed‘s virtual media conference.
Friends warned her about the person, but she chose not to listen.
“So everyone was telling me na she was a social climber na dumidikit lang sa amin because may pangalan kami and she wants to get on the train. Eventually she would get projects din, mga… yung posting kasi she’s an influencer, mga for posting because she was hanging out with us.”
It reached a point where this former friend embezzled her.
“Then it got worse kasi parang we found out na nagnanakaw na siya ng pera.
“There was this one time na I had money in my room and then biglang nawala yung pera. It so happened na she was the only one who went inside the room,” revealed the actress.
She added, “We found out na she’s been stealing from other friends as well.”
Her co-stars, Diego Loyzaga and Epy Quizon encouraged her to drop the person’s name, but the actress refused.
The incident scarred her, provided that they knew about her private life.
“Too many times na na-break yung trust ko sa mga tao and it’s really heartbreaking. Kasi these are people that I used to be closed to and people that know everything about me. So medyo nakakatakot.
“Kasi ngayon na hindi ko na sila nakakasama, or hindi ko na sila nakakausap, we don’t know kung anong nasasabi nila about me, or anong nase-share nila sa ibang tao. Kailangan po talagang mag-ingat.”
But because of the experience, she learned to be vigilant with whom she wants to surround herself.
“I guess be wise with picking the people you surround yourself with. Especially for someone who is in the industry or someone like us. Mahirap kasi, hindi lahat nang tao na nakapaligid sa’yo, mapagkakatiwalaan.”
Her comeback film is directed by Yam Laranas and will be available for streaming via Vivamax on April 8.
