OPM artists continue to lend their voices and grant song requests for the benefit of Typhoon Odette survivors in “By Request 3,” a 10-day online benefit concert that is part of the 100-day fund drive “Tulong-Tulong sa Pag-Ahon: Isang Daan sa Pagtutulungan” of ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN Foundation.
“By Request 3” kicked off with Martin Nievera who serenaded viewers last Sunday (March 20) to help raise funds for home repair kits that affected families can use to rebuild their homes. Following him were Ice Seguerra, JM de Guzman, and Juris, who each had their turn in singing their hearts out last Monday (March 21).
Ice opened the show and underscored the sense of security having a house brings to every individual. “Alam natin kung gaano kalaking bagay ang tahanan para makapagsimula tayong muli. Hindi lang siya nakakatulong dahil meron tayong shelter pero sa pang-mental health din natin. It’s very important because having a house makes us feel secured,” he said.
“Naniniwala ako na lahat po tayo ay merong magagawa. Walang maliit o malaking bagay, walang small deed o small amount,” he added.
Ice then thanked the generous donors and performed several song requests including “Anong Nangyari Sa Ating Dalawa,” “With A Smile,” “Pakisabi Na Lang,” “What Matters Most,” and “Pagdating ng Panahon.”
Meanwhile, rising female artists Fana, Lian Kyla, SAB, and Shanaia Gomez gathered together the following evening (March 22) to share their music and talents and encourage their followers to help make a difference in the lives of families devastated by the super typhoon.
Also expected to grant live song requests in the coming evenings are Bamboo (March 23), Erik Santos, Gello Marquez, and JMKO (March 24), BINI and BGYO (March 25), JM Dela Cerna, Jordan Andrews, Luis Gragera, and Marlo Mortel (March 26), MNL48 (March 27), and Janine Berdin and Maris Racal (March 28). Martin is also set to return with Zsa Zsa Padilla on March 29.
The third installment of “By Request” is happening until March 29 (Tuesday) on FYE Channel on Kumu, ABS-CBN Entertainment YouTube channel, ABS-CBN Facebook page, iWantTFC, and SKYcable ch. 955 and SD ch. 155.
After the online concert series, the “Tulong-Tulong sa Pag-Ahon: Isang Daan sa Pagtutulungan” benefit project will continue with Star Magic’s Game Zone and Metro Benefit Sale.
As of March 20, 207,029 families have already received food packs while 584 families have accepted home repair kits from ABS-CBN Foundation and its partners and donors. The ongoing fund drive has reached over P103 million in cash donations and P16.4 million worth of in-kind donations.
