The homegrown Kapamilya star remains with his home for 25 years, as he top-bills one of ABS-CBN’s most anticipated international projects this year.
Nope, he’s not leaving yet.
ABS-CBN announced recently its upcoming international project Sellblock.
The project was first announced in February, as a collaborative effort between ABS-CBN and the global production house, BlackOps Studios Asia. The said project will make use of ABS-CBN’s sprawling state-of-the-art Sound Stages in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.
Before his official selection, Rosales made fans wonder whether he was staying with ABS-CBN or moving to another TV network, given that some of the network’s biggest homegrown stars have already made the shift after ABS-CBN’s shutdown.
Rosales’s entry point to show business was the four-decade-old noontime show, Eat Bulaga, where he joined as a ‘Mister Pogi’ contestant in 1996.
He joined ABS-CBN and its talent management arm, Star Magic-then Talent Center, in 1997.
In 2000, Rosales came to massive prominence when he starred in the phenomenal primetime drama, Pangako Sa’yo. The series remains today as one of the highest-rated Philippine dramas, of all time. Rosales and his onscreen partner, Kristine Hermosa, also scored overseas fame, when the series was aired in various countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
The success of the series inadvertently opened doors for Rosales, as he landed more ambitious and bigger roles in both movies and television. He starred several box-office grossing films and further topbilled top-rating dramas, including Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas, (2004), Dahil May Isang Ikaw (2009), Green Rose (2011), Bridges of Love (2015), and Halik (2018).
In cinema, Rosales solidified his movie star status with several Star Cinema films, including Forevermore (2002), Ngayong Nandito Ka (2003), and Nasaan Ka Man (2005). He also had success via the movies he made with other studios, including Quantum Films’ Walang Forever (2015), and Viva Films’ ABNKKBSNPLAko? The Movie (2014).
Sellblock is reportedly geared-up to start filming within the year. It won’t be going Rosales’s first international project, as he already headlined the American drama romance film, ‘Subject: I Love You in 2011.
Sellblock will feature an ensemble of award-winning and seasoned Filipino stars, including Tirso Cruz III, Cherry Pie Picache, Rosanna Roces, Mon Confiado, Ronnie Lazaro, and RK Bagatsing. Hongkong-based new Asia Ferrell Asset Management has also been recently announced as among the production’s biggest financial partners.
US-based production houses, Story Arch Pictures and Agog Film Productions are also previously announced to join BlackOps Studio Asia and Psyops8, as part of the production and creative teams of the project.
