During a virtual media conference for his upcoming single Hihintayin Kita, Jeric Gonzales, on Tuesday, March 15, says he believes in “Patience is a virtue.”
“Isa rin po iyan sa mga naka-relate ako dito sa song na ‘to. Kasi I’ve been here sa showbiz na 9 years na po. I’m very grateful talaga sa GMA for always giving me opportunities,” he explained. “So yung ‘paghihintay’ ko talaga dito is worth the wait. Ngayon I have an upcoming teleserye, and ito may pelikula, and then single, so I’m very blessed talaga.”
The song is also the official soundtrack for his movie Broken Blooms, an official entry for the upcoming 41st Oporto International Film Festival in Portugal.
Gonzales entered the showbiz industry after winning in the second season of GMA Network’s talent competition Protégé.
The Magkaagaw star said he is thinking of elevating his music career by becoming a producer.
“Yes. I can see na ganoon yung tatahakin kong career soon. Kasi ngayon palang nagse-setup na ako ng parang recording studio, parang ganoon. S’yempre noong pandemic wala tayong ginagawa. So ako yun talaga ang naging hobby ko, ang mag-record.”
During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Gonzales said he invested in music equipment for his plan to progress.
“Kahit kahit mga raw na recording, simpleng recording lang, gitara ko lang and then cellphone. Then nagkaroon ako ng idea na bumili ng PC (personal computer) para magkaroon ng system to record. And ayun, nagre-research na rin. So nakikita ko ang sarili ko diyan.
“And nagsusulat din ako from time to time. I can play din naman lahat ng instruments so ang ginagawa ko kapag nagre-record, tina-try ko silang i-mix up. Naggigitara ako, nagpa-piano ako, nagda-drums, then ayun kinakantahan ko. So hoping ako in the future I’ll be a composer.”
Hihintayin Kita is already available for streaming on various digital platforms worldwide. However, it will make its launch on the network’s variety show All-Out Sundays this coming March 20.
