Vivian Velez, Director-General of the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP), said on Wednesday, March 9, that only Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and Davao Mayor were most likely to receive the endorsement from Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.
During a press conference for the Isko-Sara (ISSA) Movement that aims to have Moreno and Duterte unite, Velez said, “Bago naman po namin ‘to naisulong ang ating Isko-Sara, napag-usapan namin, collective decision of each group. Yung endorsement po kasi ni Pangulong Duterte, although he said that he is neutral, pero we went through the process of elimination.”
The movement was joined by volunteer organizations in Mindanao that pushed the Isko-Sara tandem.
Velez explained that the obvious choice of Pres. Duterte is Moreno, as shown by his disfavor with presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his Vice President, Leni Robredo.
“Kasi yung process of elimination, definitely he is not endorsing BBM or Bongbong Marcos. So he is not supporting him. He is not also supporting Leni. As you go through that process of elimination, it is no brainer for us to choose Isko. Because we think he is the best candidate for president.”
She added, “So you know, I believe in the theory that pragmatic approach to deal with crisis-induced uncertainties, it would-be mayors. So dalawa po silang mayor and that I think would be the best solution para sa problema natin.”
Various multi-sectoral groups have campaigned for Domagoso and Duterte, including the Muslim community, vendors, indigenous people, businessmen, Butuan Basurero Association, women, LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer), youth, senior citizens, Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity, Zeta Phi Fraternity, Alpha Kappa Rho, and ANO Fraternity and Sorority.
