The Cebu City Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation has tapped PLDT Enterprise for fast and reliable connectivity to support its free Wi-Fi program in several areas in the city.
According to Cebu City SK Federation President Jessica Resch, the program is in response to the call of constituents for reliable connectivity to support their education and livelihood.
“When we called for connectivity support, PLDT Enterprise was the first one to extend assistance. With PLDT’s support for this project, we were able to create a functional program that was able to sustain productivity despite the double crises we’re currently battling,” said Resch.
“I could not stress enough the importance of fast and strong connection, especially for students and businesses struggling to continue their daily activities despite the pandemic. With the support of PLDT Enterprise, we are glad that we can launch our free WiFi program to aid the needs of our fellow Cebuanos,” the SK Federation officer added.
PLDT Enterprise provided enterprise broadband connectivity to the student halls and work stations in 37 barangays in Cebu City.
The SK Federation of Cebu established learning hubs in several barangay halls which are equipped with computers, printer and internet connectivity. These provide study and work spaces to those who do not have connectivity at their own homes.
PLDT Enterprise Vice President & Head of Small and Medium Businesses Chito Franco shared that the group has been consistently empowering communities with reliable connectivity to help both businesses and students sustain their daily online undertakings, especially in areas which were hit by the recent Typhoon Odette.
“PLDT Enterprise has been actively supporting the initiatives of our local government units in launching free wifi programs in aid of the connectivity needs of their constituents. In response to the recent unfortunate incident which affected most of Cebu province, we are happy to support the SK Federation of Cebu in providing access to free connectivity which will surely benefit a lot of Cebuanos, especially at this time of recovery,” Franco noted.
Majority of barangay learning hubs in the city is powered by PLDT Enterprise.
