Rita Avila took to social media to talk about how the late president Ferdinand Marcos bankrupted the Central Bank.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, February 19, the 53-year-old actress said that the youth should be educated on the history of how Marcos sank the Philippines in debt.

The actress later received backlash from netizens who asked her to back up her claims.
One netizen, in particular, said that Avila should just focus on her career.
“Rita Avila do you have enough bases and proofs on your statements or these are based on the grapevine? It’s better for you to concentrate on your acting. It’s been decades but you don’t have a Best Actress award yet.”
Avila then responded by saying that the netizen’s statement is conceited and downgrading.
“Outstanding sa kayabangan ito. Daming awards and titles pero kelangan pa ding mantapak ng tao? Kulang pa? D ka pa secured?
“U were asking for my bases?
