JC De Vera and RK Bagatsing recalled their most intense experience of heartbreak during the media conference on January 31, for their upcoming iWant TFC series, The Goodbye Girl.
De Vera recalled getting into a violent altercation because of his heartbreak.
“Ako mayroon akong na-experience once, and ayaw ko na siyang ma-experience ulit. I think that’s the worst feeling na na-experience ko pagdating sa love na umabot na ako sa point na kailangan ko nang makipag-away, suntukan doon sa lalaki because of someone. I think ‘yun ‘yung isa sa mga pinaka-pangit ko na experience.
“And I tried my best na hindi na ulit mangyari, so first and last na ‘yun, I think that’s the craziest na, ‘yung rumble talaga, gulo, nagwawala, parang hindi mo kilala kung sino ka talaga, alam mo ‘yun nawala ka talaga sa mundo. So na-experience ko siya once, and alam ko hindi ko na siya babalikan ulit.”
He then detailed how he moved on by focusing on himself.
“Tapos siguro, after that, kung paano nag-move on? Siguro, I gave time for myself to feel, to breathe, to take it one day at a time, kasi di ba nga? Kapag may gusto kang baguhin talaga, it will take you like 21 days para magawa ‘yung habit or routine na ‘yun.”
Bagatsing shared his experience after breaking up with his former girlfriend, admitting that he avoided dealing with the emotions that came with his heartbreak.
“I broke up with this girl, and then nagkataon parang Holiday ‘yung season na ‘yun. So parang for some reason, ‘yung nag-break, parang ang daming distractions. A lot of things are happening, like parties, birthday ni ganyan, and my sister from the States umuwi, so parang siyempre get-together, so sobrang daming nangyari for like a month.
“So parang ikaw, I was trying to push back everything, ‘yung thoughts ayaw mong i-entertain, basta ayaw mong i-dissect ‘yung nangyayari, ‘yung what happened, about the breakup, about what went bad.”
He then recounted how his emotions overwhelmed and flooded him while driving a car.
“So after the holidays, noong tumahimik na lahat, I was just driving, tapos bigla akong nag-park sa gilid, kasi biglang bumuhos lahat sa akin ng emosyon.
“So parang ang tagal mong pinush back hindi na pala kaya ng katawan mo. Parang dina-divert mo ‘yung mind mo for as long as you can pero hindi na pala kaya ng katawan mo. Lahat ng emotions bumuhos sa akin.”
The digital series based on Noreen Capili’s best-selling book stars Angelica Panganiban, JC De Vera, and RK Bagatsing.
The six-episode series includes Loisa Andalio, Barbie Imperial, Maris Racal, and Elisse Joson, showing different stories of heartbreak.
The Goodbye Girl, directed by Derick Cabrido, streams on iWant TFC on February 14, Valentine’s Day.
