On January 23, showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz revealed that ABS-CBN gave Vice Ganda “special powers” to run the noontime program, It’s Showtime.
On his YouTube vlog, Diaz said he had insider access confirming that the ‘It’s Showtime’ staff consults Vice when it comes to creative decisions.
His co-host Mama Loi described Vice’s job description as a creative consultant.
“Ah parang creative consultant.”
Diaz implied that Vice’s job was more of a Business Unit Head.
“Exactly! Ako nga ang dating sa akin BUH eh,” said Diaz.
“Ah, Business unit head?” Loi clarified.
Diaz then shared why the It’s Showtime staff supposedly consult the comedian when making creative changes in the show, citing Vice’s contribution in the production of their program.
In fairness to him ha, pag sa meeting-meeting, ang dami niyang baon, ang dami niyang naibubuhos.”
He then pointed out that Vice loves the noontime show, citing the comedian’s concern for the success of ‘It’s Showtime.’
During the early years of ‘It’s Showtime,’ showrunners only invited Vice to be one of their guest judges. However, because of his quick-wit and trendsetting persona, Vice became a mainstay host of the noontime program. Vice also pioneered several segments that went viral on social media.
He then remained with ‘It’s Showtime’ despite ABS-CBN’s shutdown in 2020. So it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the comedian took part in the creative process of the noontime program.
Earlier, seasoned showbiz reporter Lolit Solis claimed that Vice was power-tripping the noontime show. However, his co-host Jugs Jugueta kindly debunked said claims.
