JC de Vera describes his WeTV series as rare in talking about sex with a lot of freedom

On December 9, JC De Vera described his upcoming WeTV series, The Kangks Show, as rare in talking about sex and has a lot of freedom.

During a media conference, De Vera said it’s his first time to work on a series similar to ‘The Kangks Show.’

“Very unusual and rare para sa industry namin na gumawa ng isang series na katulad ng ganito. And to be honest, parang first time ko rin gagawa ng series na ganito, we’re talking about sex with a lot of freedom. Kinukwento at dinidiscuss sa script about sex.”

He also admitted that he immediately accepted the offer for The Kangks Show.

“Hindi ako nagdalawang isip kasi alam mo ‘yun as an actor, I want to explore and have fun, and hindi ito ‘yung tipo ng show na aarte ka na mahihirapan ka. It’s really fun for us. It’s like playing. Isa ito sa mga project na hindi dapat tanggihan ng mga artista, kasi nga nagtatrabaho ka na, nag-e-enjoy ka pa.”

Earlier in the interview, De Vera shared his thoughts on what age young people should start learning about responsible sex.

“At kung tinanong naman at what age, sa school namin before, naglagay ng subject about sex education when I was grade 6. So probably ‘yan kapang young teen na ‘yung bata, or anak natin, pwede na talagang pag-usapan. Kailangan talaga nila malaman ‘yung pagiging responsible about sex as early as 12 years old, 13 years old kasi nga nagkakaroon ng sobrang curiosity about that.”

He added that limiting the discussion of sexual health to the younger generation endangers them.

“Kapag nilimitahan natin sila about that topic, lalo sila mas magiging curious. At the end of the day, baka hindi nila ma-control ‘yung curiosity nila at mag-worsen pa ‘yung situation. So alam mo ‘yun, before anything else happens at least familiar sila at na-explain sa kanila ng maayos.”

The Kangks Show directed by Antoinette Jadaone stars Angelica Panganiban, Maris Racal, Kit Thompson, JC de Vera, and Angeli Bayani and it streams on WeTV on December 17.
