On November 5, Kapamilya artist Dalia Varde shared her showbiz journey.
During an exclusive interview with RAWR Nation, Varde recalled that she missed a flight back to Kuwait when her manager convinced her to stay and start her career in showbiz.
“Pinanganak at lumaki ako sa Kuwait. I moved here almost three years ago or four years ago. I’m 18 now. I moved here at 14, so grabe it’s been a while. Tapos noon di talaga ko marunong mag-Tagalog, like I couldn’t speak, I couldn’t understand, I didn’t know anything about the culture. I just came here to pursue an acting career.
“Kasi, my manager, my crew manager convinced me to stay here sa Pinas, missed my flight, I was here for a vacation because I’m with my family. I missed my flight going back to Kuwait, and I stayed here, and I started school [like] the next day agad.”
She then recalled her audition with the Kapamilya network, noting that the Star Magic bosses welcomed her during her interview.
“It was a pretty simple experience. It usually starts with Star Magic. They undergo an interview with the big bosses. I was lucky that I got in. Because I remember I was with someone–like maybe two people, and I was the third. I was the only girl. ‘Yung iba boys sila.
“I thought I wouldn’t get in, kasi dati I really didn’t know Tagalog. Conversational lang, ganon. I was still very insecure with my Tagalog. Pero, I got in, not to brag, but I was the only one who got in.
“I remember I called my mom, sabi ko, Mommy, this is what I’ve been waiting /for. It wasn’t a struggle-it wasn’t that much of a struggle sa interview kasi they were very welcoming. Lahat sila sa Star Magic, ‘yung mga bosses they were very kind.”
She also admitted that she has always wanted to be part of the showbiz industry, noting that she initially wanted to be a director before taking a shot at acting.
“I’ve always wanted to be a part of this industry. Before wanting to be an actress, my very, very first dream talaga in showbiz was to be– and it still is one of my dreams, is to be a director, a movie director. And I thought na maybe I should try acting muna, and I did. I’ve always had an eye for this sort of art.”
As for her career, Varde recently portrayed the role of Kimineah Gozon in the Kapamilya Network’s highest-streamed digital series, ‘He’s Into Her.’ She returns for the second season of the kilig-filled series to bring back her “mean girl” persona.
Varde noted that she auditioned for her role three times.
“I did go through auditions, mga tatlo, tatlong auditions. Syempre sa third and last, third times the charm, I got the role. I’ve auditioned for lahat ng mean girls, pero si Kim, ‘yung role ko ngayon, si Kimeniah Gozon, she was the one character, the one script na sunod-sunod talaga every audition.”
She then thanked the people who supported her when she landed the role in ‘He’s Into Her.’
“I got parang, ‘I’m gonna get this role.’ I hope I get this role kasi, I keep doing her lines–I keep saying her lines. Dati, I didn’t know how famous He’s Into Her was. I didn’t /know the book, kasi it started as a novel. I even had the books with me.
“Once I got the role, I got so much support. I was like, ‘where is this coming from? Who is Kim?’ Kim is a very popular girl pala. Everyone knows Kim, so ‘yan I’m really excited that my first role was queen agad.”
