The film A Girl and a Guy managed to get the top spot on Netflix on Thursday, November 4. Is it because of the frontal nudity and love scenes offered in the story?
A Girl and A Guy is under the direction of Erik Matti and was first released in June 2021 on the Philippine streaming platform Upstream, but just recently streamed on Netflix.
The film pushed the heist comedy film Army of Thieves on the number two spot on the popular list.
On November 4, Erik Matti then posted on facebook that he was surprised with the attention that his film is getting on Netflix.
“I am surprised at the attention A Girl and A Guy is getting in Netflix. I dont have Tiktok but I am told a lot are talking about the film there. Twitter is hot too.
“I was disappointed when this came out a few months back because I wanted the film to speak to a particcular set of movie audience but somehow only a few have seen it.
“I’m happy for the cast and crew of our film for this second wind at Netflix. This is my personal film that, no matter small, packs a whole lot of things to say about the young. Glad that now it’s been seen. And by the targeted audience themselves I presume. Congratulations!!!!”
A Girl and A Guy also became a trending topic on twitter. Apart from being known for its intimate scenes, netizens also commended the film’s storyline.

Just finished watching #AGirlAndAGuy it speaks volume and it literally reflects the reality in terms of having a relationship and in terms of acknowledging your preference/needs in regards to sexual intimacy. The storyline was good. It is well-written, moral lesson for me+
