2015 Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is really determined to be back in acting. It seems that she particularly likes the adrenaline in action scenes. On Twitter, a netizen asked Pia whether she will accept the role of Darna if it was offered to her.
Knowing Pia, we can imagine that she was hyper and excited when she typed her answer, “YES! I would love to play the Filipina version of Superwoman! DARNA!”

Pia Wurtzbach has been acting since she was a kid. It is second nature to her. It seems like whatever role that fits her personality, she will accept. She is a strong and determined woman, she could really be “Darna” in the movie adaptation that will be directed by “Honor Thy Father” director, Erik Matti. The first choice to play “Darna” in a movie was Angel Locsin. But because of her disc bulge for which she went under the knife in a Singapore hospital, Angel have to set aside the role.
According to ABS-CBN News, Direk Erik Matti admitted in a DZMM interview two weeks ago that there is no official actress yet for the “Darna” role. They are still choosing among gorgeous Pinay beauties including Liza Soberano, Nadine Lustre, Jessy Mendiola and even Pia Wurtzbach. Direk Matti said that Pia Wurtzbach has all that it takes to be a superheroine. But he further explained that “Darna” does not really work with beauty queens. The “Darna” character is for a regular Pinay woman.
Right now, Star Cinema is still on the hunt for the one who will fit the role of “Darna”. So, there is no exact date yet as to when the “Darna” movie will be released this year. Putting aside the “regular Pinay woman” comment of Director Matti, would you want Pia to play the iconic role of Darna?
