The premiere episode of the latest edition of the long-running reality series, Pinoy Big Brother, attracted more viewers than any piloting show on YouTube, Facebook, and KUMU.
The PBB fever is on once again, as the country’s most popular house reopened its doors for new aspiring housemates. This year, three editions will comprise the 10th regular season of the show, which comes 16 years after the first season was aired in 2005. Excitement abounds for the new season as it kicked off with its celebrity edition last night.
This season marks the 5th time the popular reality show has a celebrity edition. Two stand-alone editions, Celebrity Edition 1 and Celebrity Edition 2, were aired by ABS-CBN in 2006 and 2007. All In and Lucky 7 seasons, respectively aired in 2014, 2015, and 2016, featured a batch of celebrity housemates. Zanjoe Marudo, Keanna Reeves, and Bianca Gonzales are among the most successful ex-housemates from these editions.
Last night, October 16, the attention was once more fixed on the Kapamilya show as more viewers than before followed the events of the pilot episode, which marked the first time the celebrity housemates entered the house. 12 new housemates—male pageant contestant and MMA fighter, John Andajar; Kapamilya actress, Alexa Ilacad; livestreaming sensation, Eian Rances; beauty queen, Sam Bernardo; former radio DJ, Karen Bordador; comedians TJ Valderama and Brenda Mage; online sensation, Madam Inutz; new breed singers, Anji Salvacion, KD Estrada, and Shanaia Gomez; and celebrity athlete, Alyssa Valdez—entered the house for the first time, while Huwag Kang Mangamba actor and singer, Kyle Echarri, is yet to finish his quarantine period. Across different platforms where the show was being aired, nearly two hundred thousand viewers watched the show.

On KUMU, where most of the adult edition auditions are held, live concurrent viewers peaked at more than 80,000 viewers. On the Kapamilya Online Live, the number went past 92,000, which is already a record-breaking feat for any debuting show on a weekend.
On Facebook, the number is not that impressive, but it still attracted 2,000 live viewers, at least. Given these numbers, which are still poised to rise in the succeeding episodes, one can say that the show’s popularity is yet to wane. Fan support also remains strong for the aspirants, as reflected by the million diamonds they earned through their KUMU Live shows as part of their pre-PBB entry task.
In the following days, four more housemate will enter the house. These housemates are Kapamilya actor, Albie Casiño, Girltrends member, Chie Filomeno, and Bahay ni Kuya in KUMU Celebrity winners, Jordan Andrews and Benedix Ramos.
Which of these housemates are your early bets? Make sure to leave a comment below. PBB Kumunity Season 10 Celebrity Edition airs on A2Z and Kapamilya Channel television and online via iWantTFC, KUMU, and Kapamilya Online Live (YouTube and Facebook).
