Kapuso comedian Michael V. wants to continue the taping for Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kuwento, but the production cannot commence due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
His sitcom, which has ’80s settings, follows the love story of young Elsa and Pepito.
The sitcom premiered on July 17, but the production stopped temporarily because their taping location was a part of the granular lockdown.
According to an interview with PEP, Michael V wanted to push the production for the sake of its avid audience.
“I was in a meeting yesterday with the bosses of GMA regarding that.
“As soon as puwede na kami makaabante, aabante na kami. Pero sa ngayon, tinitimbang pa rin, e. Kung ano yung magandang move.
“Ang iniisip kasi namin… yung audience, kawawa, e. Nabibitin madalas,” the comedian said.
He explained that even though he and his colleagues were already fully vaccinated, continuing the taping for the sitcom is still a risk and tough task to carry on.
“Gusto ko talaga bumalik dahil unang-una, fully vaccinated na ako, pati mga kasama ko. Hindi ko pa rin maisip kung papaano babalik, e,” he said.
Michael V. then shared that it is still up to their GMA bosses if the network wants to continue airing the sitcom.
He also said that he considers being a part of Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kwento as an honor.
“Yung Unang Kuwento, there’s a chance na magtuluy-tuloy na, pero as I said, pinag-aaralan pa ng ano… yung mga boss ng GMA. That’s an option na ituluy-tuloy pa ang Unang Kuwento,” he said.
“Kung tutuusin, kahit ako parang naging fan na ako ng Unang Kuwento.
“Magagaling sila at ang sarap mag-reminisce ng nakaraan. Panahon ng ’80s, panahon natin ‘yan, e.
“Kahit maliit na detalye, nandun, e. Kaya nakakatuwa talaga. Hindi ako magsisisi kung halimbawang ituluy-tuloy ito at ito muna yung magiging option.
“For me, it’s a great honor na magamit yung pangalan ni Pepito Manaloto sa ganung klaseng programa.”
Michael V. previously revealed that his series Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kwento, is inspired by John en Marsha, a television sitcom that aired on the Radio Philippines Network from May 1973 to 1990.
