Gameboys: The Movie stars Elijah Canlas and Kokoy de Santos spill their secret about how they continue to have a successful Boy’s Love (BL) tandem.
De Santos believes that staying true to their respective character is one of the key things that they continue to have the chemistry they needed as an onscreen couple.
“Tingin ko, yung truth siguro sa character at naniniwala tayo do’n sa ginagampanan natin,” he revealed during the movie’s post-media conference, Friday, July 30.
More than that, he also believes and trusts his partner, Elijah.
“S’yempre naniniwala tayo sa ka-eksena natin. Sobrang laking tiwala ko dito kay Elijah hindi lang bilang aktor kundi bilang tao. Naging open ako sa kanya. Alam na n’ya halos lahat,” he added.
Meanwhile, Kokoy’s partner Elijah also agreed with him.
He stressed that each love team should be committed and true to their characters. Also, they should be open to one another.
Canlas then explained that their chemistry would not be as good as it is right now if they cannot work together and with their co-actors.
“I mean hindi talaga s’ya magwo-work kung hindi kayo nagkakasundo ng mga ka-eksena mo at ng mga co-actors mo.”
He then revealed that the cast of Gameboys: The Movie was very genuine since the beginning of their taping, making their work much easier while creating a bond along the way.
“Day 1 pa lang, sobrang open na si Kokoy, the whole cast, each other. And I think even off cam sobrang genuine ng relationship naming lahat,” Elijah stressed.
The two, who call each other “baby”, also shared heart-warming messages.
For Kokoy, he was grateful and blessed to have Elijah not only as his on-cam partner but also as a friend.
“Salamat. Sobrang salamat sa pagiging isang mabuting kaibigan hindi lang katrabaho. Wala hindi na kita matawag na katrabaho, alam mo na halos lahat ng tungkol sa ‘kin.
“Sobrang thankful ako. Forever. Forever akong magiging thankful hindi lang dahil sa Gameboys kundi dahil sa’yo din. Dahil ikaw ang buhay ko dito sa Gameboys. Salamat, love you.”
Meanwhile, Elijah, is very proud of Kokoy, adding that they will continue making the series up until its 30th season.
“Baby, proud ako sa’yo. Sobrang proud. Grabeng performance ang binuhos mo sa pelikulang ito. Nakaka-proud kasi nando’n tayo nung ginagawa natin ang mga eksenang ‘yon tapos nakita natin na buo na s’ya ngayon.
“Madami pa tayong makikita sa second season. Excited ako, proud ako, at nagpapasalamat ako sa tiwala, sa pagmamahal. Hanggang Gameboys 30 na ‘to baby.”
Canlas admitted that due to certain circumstances, had a hard time getting out of his character.
“Usually ang proseso ko bilang artista, ‘pag nagka-cut, gusto kong bumitaw agad sa character. Pero dahil may pelikula kaming shinoot, at may buo kaming series na shinoot, in 8 days, na for 14 hours lang naming ginagawa, parang pagkatapos ng isang eksena talon agad sa sunod. Wala talagang oras mag-relax o magpagpag.”
But thanks to his on-screen partner, de Santos, he has someone to help him with his problem.
“Ako na yung nagpa-pagpag kay Elijah minsan,” Kokoy responded.
