Encounter star Cristine Reyes ended her contract with ABS-CBN. Meanwhile, her co-star Diego Loyzaga expressed his gratitude for the Kapamilya network.
They are now both under the management of Viva and are doing shows on TV5. Reyes and Loyzaga currently work as onscreen partners for TV5’s series Encounter.
During the press conference of the series on July 7, Reyes and Loyzaga were asked about their commitments with different networks.
Is Reyes still a Kapamilya?
“Kapamilya, Kapuso, Kapatid, lahat. I’m not part of anyone po. Wala po akong contract to any networks,” the actress replied.
Even though he is now one of the Viva talents, Loyzaga said he is greatly indebted to his home network, ABS-CBN.
The 26-year-old actor said, “Of course with Viva. I grew up with ABS-CBN. Forever, ABS-CBN will always have a place within me. Malaki pa rin yung utang na loob ko sa ABS-CBN.”
He added, “It doesn’t mean to say that doors can’t be open to new beginnings. Viva is definitely one of them, Kapatid is definitely one of them. The future is big, the future is great. Who knows what comes next. I would never say no to having a project with ABS-CBN or anyone I’ve worked with before.”
Reyes and Loyzaga both implied that they are presently open to working on projects with other networks.
Reyes started her showbiz career by joining GMA Network’s reality TV program, StarStruck in 2003.
In 2008, she transferred to ABS-CBN when she became a contract artist of Viva Artists Agency. Following this, her career blossomed and she was able to do several movies and teleseryes in the Kapamilya network. One of her notable movies was No Other Woman wherein she starred with Anne Curtis and Derek Ramsay.
Last year, the sexy actress was seen again on the Kapuso Network through GMA Network’s afternoon variety show, Eat Bulaga. She served as a celebrity judge on the show’s segment, Bawal Judgmental.
Loyzaga is known as one of the members of the male group Kapamilya Cuties.
On March 8, 2011, he signed a three-year exclusive contract with ABS-CBN at the age of 15. He became part of ABS-CBN’s top-rated series Mara Clara reprising the role of Derrick Gonzales originally played by Rico Yan.
He took a break from show business to complete his secondary education in 2012.
In May 2013, he returned onscreen and was welcomed with new opportunities.
In April 2021, Loyzaga starred in a mystery love story cinema film called Death of a Girlfriend alongside AJ Raval. It was directed by Yam Laranas.
Reyes and Loyzaga’s new series, Encounter, is produced by TV5 and Sari Sari Channel, together with Viva Entertainment. It is the local adaptation of the 2018 South Korean hit series of the same title.
Reyes plays the role of Song Hye Kyo, while Loyzaga takes on the role of Park Bo Gum.
The series will be streaming on VivaMax starting July 23.
The show will also feature cast members Kean Cipriano, Robert Seña, Maricel Morales, Yayo Aguila, Louise delos Reyes, Gardo Versoza, Isay Alvarez, and more. Catch Encounter every Saturday at 8PM on TV5.
