Paolo Gumabao’s Lockdown shocked many of its audience during its special screening because of the number of frontal nudity spotted during the film’s runtime. Now comparing it with Netflix’s Sex/Life, it seems Gumabao’s film won the contest of frontal nudity by a mile.
Sex/Life stunned its viewers less than 20 minutes into episode 3 with that infamous full-frontal shower scene of Adam Demos, who portrays Brad Simon.
However, according to critics, Lockdown is littered with several full-frontal scenes from Gumabao that would overwhelm its audience.
In comparison, it seems the 5-second full-frontal shower scene in Sex/Life couldn’t hold a candle to the barrage of frontal nudity scenes that will flood the viewers of Lockdown.
Lockdown is Gumabao’s first lead role as an actor, and he didn’t hold back in committing to his role in the film. Before his breakout role, the son of Dennis Roldan appeared in several productions since 2014. He started to gain prominence during his stint in the iWantTFC series, Mga Batang Poz.
Critics praised the actor for not holding back in his role and committing to the film. Some are even campaigning for Gumabao’s possible best actor award in the coming film festivals.
The movie sheds light on the issues faced by Filipinos at the start of the pandemic and lockdowns, such as lack of income and police corruption.
One particular issue that the film brought to the forefront is the boom of online adult content during the COVID-19 pandemic to which Gumabao’s character falls into to support his family.
The movie directed by Joel Lamangan highlights powerhouse casts such as Alan Paule, Sean de Guzman, Kristian Allene, Neil Suarez, Dincent Lujero, Jeff Carpio, Max Eigenmann, Ruby Ruiz, Jess Evardone, Paul Jake Paule, Mauro Salas, and Alexis Yasuda.
Lockdown streams on KTX, Upstream, and RAD starting July 23.
