TV host and popular Youtuber Alex Gonzaga recently shared her thoughts about making her prank videos.
Aside from her usual vlogs, Alex’s Youtube channel which currently has more than 10 million subscribers is also known for her prank videos.
One of her most famous prank videos is the pregnancy prank in February 2020 featuring her parents Mommy Pinty and Daddy Bonoy which have more than 10 million views.
Another one and the more recent prank video is the shopping prank with Herlene “Hipon Girl” Budol which currently has more than 6.3 million views.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Pep.ph, Alex shared the preparations behind these prank videos.
According to Alex executing prank videos was never easy as she always gets nervous cause it has to be a single take only to be able to capture the subject’s raw reactions.
“Actually, pag nagpa-prank ako, kinakabahan ako talaga kasi I don’t want it to be a flop na hindi makuha iyong reaction.
“So kinakabahan talaga ako, sobra iyong kaba ko. As in, iyong nagpapawis ka ng [kamay], dun talaga ako napapawisan.
“Kasi gusto mong ma-pull off nang sobrang ganda para… Kasi ang hirap i-fake, e, ang hirap ng double take or ng second take pa or whatever.
“Hindi mo na makukuha iyong raw reaction so kinakabahan talaga ako.”
She also added that most of the time she plans the prank videos with her team but there were also times when it comes spontaneously whenever she feels making one.
“Kapag nagpa-prank ako, kasama ko lang iyong team ko. And minsan biglaan na lang, ‘I-prank natin siya, tara!’
“Iyong mga big pranks like iyong pregnancy prank, mga ganun… medyo pag-iisipan mo kasi maraming shots.”
Alex also disclosed that she’s planning to create more prank videos and that she advised her family members to get ready because they’ll be the subject of it.
“Ang dami kong gustong gawin pranks, sa totoo lang, pero I don’t have time pa to really plan it.
“So humanda iyong mga kapamilya ko dahil uulanin talaga sila ng prank. Ang dami ko talagang naisip na prank.”
