Philippine bet Pia Wurtzbach is taking home the crown, after host Steve Harvey said the mix-up in the announcement was a “horrible mistake” on his part, misreading the results and Wurtzbach, not Miss Colombia Adriana Gutiérrez, is in fact the winner of this year’s pageant. “I have to apologize. The 1st runner up is Colombia.”
The top three contestants were asked, “Why should you be the next Miss Universe?
And the winner Miss Universe Philippines answered, “To be a Miss Universe is both an honor and a responsibility. If I were to be Miss Universe, I will use my voice to influence the youth and I will raise awareness to certain causes like HIV awareness that is timely and relevant to my country, i.e. Philippines. I want to show the world-the Universe, rather-that I am confident and beautiful from the heart.”
Wurtzbach beats 79 equally stunning and beautiful ladies around the world to get the title of Miss Universe 2015. Pia won the 3rd crown for th Philippines following Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margie Moran in 1973.
Second runner-up was Miss USA, Olivia Jordan.
The show was hosted by Emmy Award-winning TV personality and comedian Steve Harvey and actress Roselyn Sanchez.
It was judged by Emmitt Smith, Niecy Nash, Olivia Culpo, and Perez Hilton.
