Actress Judy Ann Santos is supposed to play the lead role in the Philippine adaptation of Doctor Foster. However, she turned down the offer.
Talent manager Ogie Diaz revealed the reason behind Santos’s refusal to take on the role.
On May 07, Diaz uploaded his vlog–Ba’t Ngayon Lang Nagsalita si Maja Salvador? where he and his co-host Mama Loi discussed Salvador’s recent interview about refusing to work with Gerald Anderson.
Mama Loi asked Diaz if it’s valid Salvador‘s rejection of the role offered to her was a consideration of her current boyfriend’s feelings?
For Diaz, if Salvador thought that her current boyfriend, Rambo Nuñez is the man for her. For him, it is a sign of Salvador’s respect for Nuñez. Then, Diaz mentioned Santos’s name on his vlog.
He said, like Salvador, he revealed that Santos turned down the offer to take on the role of Doctor Foster because the series requires sexy scenes. Santos is also considering her husband’s feelings.
“Parang si Judy Ann Santos hindi tinanggap yung World of the Married kasi nga may maseselang eksena doon. At bilang respeto kay Ryan Agoncillo, sa kanyang asawa. Ganu’n lang yun,” Diaz clarified.
Santos’ refusal gave Jodi Sta. Maria, the opportunity to play the lead role.
In April this year, BBC Studios and ABS-CBN sealed an agreement to create a local adaptation for Doctor Foster.
Jodi Sta. Maria will star with Zanjoe Marudo for the said adaptation.
She will play the role of Dra. Jill Ilustre, a family woman who seemed to have it all but will soon find out that her husband is having an extramarital affair.
Suranne Jones is Dr. Gemma Foster in the BBC version.
Marudo will play the role of David Ilustre, the unfaithful husband of Dra. Jill Ilustre. In the original version, Bertie Carvel is Simon Foster.
Sue Ramirez and Zaijan Jaranilla will take on the roles of a concubine and the couple’s son, respectively.
However, some Netizens are not happy with the casting as Sta. Maria and Marudo had wrapped up with their respective shows on ABS-CBN.
The local adaptation of Doctor Foster has a title–The Broken Marriage Vow.
