Executive Director of the Philippine Vaccine Foundation Dr. Lulu Bravo is currently earning flak with her remark that the pandemic situation in the Philippines is not the worst compared to other countries.
During an interview with CNN Philippines’ The Final Word, Bravo stressed that the country is “not the worst” after the Philippines breached the one million mark in COVID-19 cases. The expert even compared the nation to India, which according to her, is worse.
But her declaration was criticized by her colleagues in the health industry.
Twitter personality and a doctor, Paulo Mara opposed Bravo’s statement.
The physician stressed that many Filipinos are dying as they look for hospitals that would accept them. With many infected looking for a medical establishment, Mara scrutinized the expert for not seeing that the situation in the country is worse.
Doc Bravo, maraming namamatay na Filipino patients sa pag hohospital hopping kasi walang tumatanggap sa kanila they even reach the hospitals in the North galing Manila pa mga yan ah. Hindi niyo po ba alam yun? Nakakahiya naman sa purple eye shadow niyo. pic.twitter.com/1ilWuUn1MM

Actor-director Andoy Ranay also echoed Mara’s opinion that Dr. Bravo is wrong.

In another tweet, Ranay focused his attention on the eyeshadow of Bravo for being uneven and unblended.
Diba coach!! Blend lang di pa nagawa e. Paano pa ang mga complicated work sa department nila?! 😂😂😂 https://t.co/TbK4DERsuS

But on a serious note, twitter personality AkoNgaSyLico has a message to the government officials who are adamant about comparing India to the Philippines.
Relaying a message from an Indian friend, he urged the Government to stop comparing the two countries to prove that the Philippines has a better situation for it is “immoral.”
A plea to PH gov't officials: From an Indian friend
"Please stop using our country, India, as your dirty linen. To abuse our misery, that you are much better off; an excuse to give your self a pat on the back for doing what you would call as an excellent job is immoral…"

In the succeeding tweet, he called out the Philippine government for being “apathetic” and “insensitive” by comparing the situation of India, which has over a billion in population, unlike the Philippines with over 110 million only.
It is apathetic, insensitive. What we expect are sympathies and prayers, especially coming from a country that boasts itself as a christian nation.
Also, citing India as a comparison against your country is statistically faulty, as India has over a billion population and…

Furthermore, the comparison between the two countries is irrelevant considering that India’s topography is not like the Philippines, in which water divides the lands.
India's states, provinces & cities, geographically are interconnected by land while PH has the luxury of distances, provinces divided by waters.
If you want to challenge yourselves and establish a reasonable benchmark, "choose your own size," in terms of population. – Manohar pic.twitter.com/VcNaXRJAbP

With these differences, the personality’s friend urged the officials of the Philippines to “choose your own size” in establishing a reasonable basis of which has the worst pandemic situation.
