With Huwag Kang Mangamba currently airing and Heartful Café replacing I Can See You this April 26, a new rivalry between ABS-CBN and GMA Network TV shows will begin.
Before the ratings weigh in and make it a numbers game, what show should Filipino viewers look out for between the inspirational teleserye, Huwag Kang Mangamba, and the romantic-comedy Heartful Café?
Each Genre.
Huwag Kang Mangamba is an inspirational teleserye with Bro (Jesus) at its core. A series meant to remind viewers about faith and hope amid tough and trying times.
On the other hand, Heartful Café aims to appeal to people’s inner ‘kilig’ meters with the hopes of having its viewers fall in love with a charming story between business owners-turned-lovers.
Their Respective Stories.
Huwag Kang Mangamba follows the story of the town of Hermoso and its townsfolk. The townspeople lost faith in God after a series of misfortune. Mira (Andrea Brillantes), a blind orphan; searching for the truth about her identity, crosses paths with the rebellious teenager Joy (Francine Diaz), who lost faith in God. A Miracle brings the two together to fulfill the mission of Bro to rebuild the churches in Hermoso and restore people’s faith in God.
Heartful Cafe, on the other hand, follows the story of cafe owner Heart Fulgencio (Julie Anne San Jose), who plays matchmakers for her customer’s cafe but remains skeptical when it comes to falling in love. The story takes a romantic turn when the goal-driven businessman Ace Nobleza (David Licauco) comes into the picture, becomes a co-investor, and saves the failing business of the Heartful Café.
Why should you watch it?
Huwag Kang Mangamba aims to inspire people amid the trying times they are facing. With the current pandemic situation, the series is a much-needed reminder for people not to lose hope and faith and that things will get better.
Meanwhile, Heartful Café aims to provide light-hearted giddy-filled entertainment to its Kapuso audience. Aside from its kilig-serving scenes, it also boasts its K-Drama aesthetic, which will leave its viewers in awe of how much Filipino storytelling has changed over the years.
