For several days, a lot of Kathryn Bernardo’s followers are wondering whether or not she’s still an ‘Iglesia ni Cristo’ member.
The rumor started when Kathryn decided to endorse the presidential bid of administration standard bearer Mar Roxas (under the Liberal Party), a report speculated that it is possible that she has already been expelled as a member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC).
It is common knowledge that members of the said Church organization are not allowed to endorse any candidate for the May 2016 elections, it has yet to announce who it will support for the presidential and vice-president in the upcoming polls.
In another report, Korina Sanchez, wife of Mar Roxas, allegedly confirmed in an Instagram post over the weekend that Bernardo will be publicly endorsing Mr. Roxas.
Kathryn’s on-screen love interest, Daniel Padilla, earlier confirmed he will be campaigning for the former interior secretary.
On the other hand, two Facebook posts have been going around the internet that somehow contributed to the rumor.
The first post was by Daniel Gullos, according to the comments he was an INC minister. His post was supposedly a reaction to Cristy Fermin’s article saying that Kathryn’s endorsement of Mar Roxas was approved by INC.
The second controversial post was by Jay Phi, he posted a series of photos featuring Kathryn doing things that an INC member would not do. He posted photos of Kathryn wearing a Mrs. Santa Claus outfit, another picture shows Bernardo wearing a necklace with a crucifix pendant and another photo of her standing side by side with Roxas.
We can recall that this is not the first time that Kathryn has been bashed because of her religious ties. In 2013, she was also scrutinized for celebrating Christmas and for even putting up a Christmas tree in their home.
