Gabby Eigenmann recounts his lowest point in life. He said prayers led him to his award-winning role in Munting Heredera.
In the media conference for the new episode of GMA Network’s anthology series, I Can See You: #Future, Eigenmann recounted the lowest point in his career as an actor.
He highlighted that he was a prayerful person. However, there was a time that his career dimmed with the lack of available projects.
“Very prayerful naman akong tao ever since I was young. But there was one time dumating sa point na matagal akong nawalan ng trabaho. I was technically losing hope of kailan ba ko magkaka-work ulit. Matagal talaga ha.”
He admitted feeling depressed during this period. He added that he needed to put food on the table for his family.
“It came to a point na sobrang na depress ako na kailan ba ko magtratrabaho ulit. I prayed. Like, I prayed so hard because, at that time, I needed to put food on the table. I need to support my family.”
After praying, he received an offer from Indonesia, but he declined it because it would take him away from his kids for two years.
“And, then I was offered to do a TV series in Indonesia for two years. Pero, my kids pa lang were toddlers pa lang sila. So hindi ko sila kayang iwan. Talagang family person talaga ako. Hindi ko sila kayang iwan.”
After he declined the offer, Eigenmann received a call from his manager about a local soap opera project.
“I prayed, and I prayed. I even cried. Then, God showed me a sign. Siguro mga two days after that I prayed na habang umiiyak. I received a call from my manager na there’s this soap opera na tinatanong kung available ba ko.”
The said soap opera was Munting Heredera, which became Eigenmann’s award-winning project.
“Fast forward. It was Munting Heredera. And then, icing on the cake, that Munting Heredera project gave me my first acting award.”
Eigenmann started his career in 1997 with the film Babae. His work in Munting Heredera earned him a Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series award from ENPRESS Golden Screen Awards in 2011. From then on, Eigenmann worked on projects such as GMA Network’s Contessa and the movie Asintado.
Now he joins the cast of I Can See You: #Future which aims to provide a commentary on how people use social media these days. Miguel Tanfelix and Alcantara top-bills the newest episodes of the anthology series. Alongside them are Aiko Melendez, Mikoy Morales, and Dani Porter. Directed by Director Zapata, I Can See You: #Future airs this April 5, 2021 right after First Yaya on GMA Network.
