On March 8, Monday, TV5 airs ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida every 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. This included the whole lineup until the reality game show, “PBB: Connect.” With Primetime Bida already in the Kapatid network, is It’s Showtime coming next?
Recently, netizens have speculated that it’s possible to have other Kapamilya programs in TV5 since the first shows, “ASAP NATIN ‘To” and “Da King” received a high rating and good feedback. Their observation was correct as TV5 now airs the Primetime Bida of ABS-CBN.
TV5 has also expressed its excitement to the arrival of ABS-CBN entertainment on its channel.
“We welcome the inclusion of ABS-CBN entertainment shows in our roster of programs. We believe that this content deal will benefit Filipino viewers across the country because of TV5’s extensive coverage,” Cignal and TV5 president and chief executive Robert Galang said.
It is also clear that TV5 needed ABS-CBN to up their ratings. This was admitted by TV5 Chairman Manuel Pangilinan last Sunday, March 7.
“We see some traction in respect to their [TV5] own entertainment content. It still [is] low in terms of ratings, probably one-tenth or one-eight of the size of GMA7, but moving upward gradually,” he said.
Since TV5’s own noontime show, “Laugh Out Loud” (LOL) is not performing well, netizens have surmised that it will be replaced by ABS-CBN’s “It’s Showtime”.
Some of the show’s staff and production were from ABS-CBN who left after the network was shut down by the government. LOL’s host, Billy Crawford, and its director, Bobet Vidanes were former Kapamilyas and also part of the network’s “It’s Showtime.” Unfortunately, they cannot increase the show’s rating.
Now that LOL is in a danger zone of getting canceled, the speculation that it will be replaced by one of ABS-CBN’s noontime show is getting stronger.
Pangilinan also disclosed that the two networks are talking to bring more Kapamilya content to the Kapatid network since ABS-CBN had been helpful to TV5.
“The content of ABS-CBN that’s so far been shown in TV5 has helped a bit and [we are] talking to them about further showing their content on TV5,” Pangilinan added.
If LOL cannot step up their game, and ABS-CBN continues to add their shows on TV5, then “It’s Showtime” can be expected to join the Kapamilya’s on the Kapatid channel.
