MANILA, PHILIPPINES, February 2021 — A year after the launch of its maiden GrabKitchen branch in the Philippines, everyday everything app Grab today announced the launch of its second cloud kitchen branch. Located in Sampaloc, Manila, GrabKitchen brings together eight brands to provide more food choices to consumers. It also aims to provide food entrepreneurs the opportunity to launch their brands in new locations with a lower set up[1] cost and to reach a wider base of customers through GrabFood.
“GrabKitchen is a reflection of our desire to delight consumers and to support food and beverage entrepreneurs to grow their business in the digital economy. Our first GrabKitchen has enabled merchants to establish their brands in Makati, where they didn’t used to have a physical store, with minimal upfront investments.. At the same time, it has also provided food lovers the option to enjoy different cuisines they love in a single order, and pay one delivery fee. We hope to bring the same benefits to consumers and businesses through the opening of our Sampaloc branch, “ said Grab Philippines Head of Deliveries EJ Dela Vega.
Dela Vega added: “The opening of the Sampaloc branch comes nearly a year after Grab unveiled its first GrabKitchen branch in Glorietta 2, in Makati City. It housed six merchants, most of which saw their orders grow significantly,” Dela Vega said.
The second GrabKitchen features eight merchant-partners: Conti’s, Sinangag Express, CoCo Fresh Tea and Juice, Omakase, Mister Kabab, Army Navy, Pizza Telefono, and Happilee.
Dela Vega said these merchants will add variety in terms of food choices in Manila. Omakase and Happilee are opening their kitchens in Manila for the first time, while the others hope to gain more customers through GrabKitchen.
He noted that Grab considered several factors in shortlisting the merchants, including identifying the in-demand food items in the area and leveraging data from historical orders to address cuisine gaps.
“We are hopeful that our Sampaloc, Manila branch will continue to give foodies more freedom to mix and match their orders. They can also take advantage of the fact that our GrabKitchen merchants offer long distance deliveries up to 10 kilometers,” dela Vega added.
Giving customers more restaurants to choose from
GrabKitchen’s mix-and-match feature allows customers to satisfy their pizza, sushi, chicken, and milk tea cravings all in one order, for example. Suitable for at-home family celebrations or office lunches, GrabKitchen seeks to make it easier for families and friends to share meals from the comfort of their homes or offices.
Helping businesses expand and reach more customers
Through a central kitchen, GrabKitchen houses multiple restaurants under one roof. As it operates as a delivery-only kitchen, merchants can avoid high rental costs at high traffic locations.
Popular milk tea franchise CoCo Fresh Tea, along with Mister Kabab, have decided to join GrabKitchen’s Sampaloc branch after a successful stint in Makati City.
“While we did expect our orders to grow as soon as we joined the platform, we were pleasantly surprised to see the numbers grow exponentially after being exposed to such a large customer base. This is the reason why we decided to expand our partnership, and open up a store at the Sampaloc branch. We want to offer a more convenient experience to our customers through this new location and this platform, so we do plan on expanding to more locations through GrabKitchen,” said Larry Evans Tan, General Manager of CoCo.
GrabKitchen was a concept first introduced in Indonesia in 2018 and has since become the largest regional cloud kitchens operator in Southeast Asia. GrabKitchen has over 50 branches in Southeast Asia including Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, and the Philippines.
To celebrate the launch of the newest GrabKitchen branch, Grab is offering free delivery[2] to customers from February 9, 2021 to Feb 28, 2021. Just use the code GRABKITCHEN and enjoy free food delivery for a minimum order of P550.
