Basketball or Showbiz? The son of PBA veteran Benjie Paras, Andre Paras is having a hard time choosing between the entertainment industry or professional basketball.
During the Game of the Gens press conference, the young Paras answered the question thrown at him–if what path between showbiz and professional basketball is he going to choose.
‘Yung sagot ko now, kasi my motto in life it’s always: change your happiness to what makes you happy.”
Andre is an aspiring basketball player. He said that when the time comes that he has to choose between the two of his passions, he’d be having a hard time choosing.
“And showbiz or hosting makes me happy, basketball makes me happy. And at this point sabay pa rin sila, so I have no reason to choose [one], kasi sabay naman po sila–both make me happy, but there might come a time, when I have to choose, and I don’t know the answer to that yet.”
Recently, Andre Paras announced that he entered this year’s rookie draft for Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The news surprised a lot of his fans. Does this mean that he will be leaving show business soon?
“All I can say is this March po ‘yung draft po namin. Hopefully, all goes well. Tuluy-tuloy na po ako.”
He spent most of his lockdown doing basketball training.
“I applied for it since I’m chasing my dreams, I’ve always wanted to play basketball,” said Andre.
Despite this career move on his passion for basketball, Andre made it clear that he is not leaving the GMA Network, especially hosting the Game of Gens.
“GMA has supported me with my decision. March 14, around that date, I’ve heard that’s the draft, so kahit papaano naman I’m very thankful, kasi I have time to do tapings for ‘Game of the Gens’ and I can still train individually.”
Andre Paras is most famous for playing Chad Jimenez in the 2014 film version of Diary ng Panget, this Filipino actor also portrayed Bradley Castillo in the GMA Network series The Half Sisters. He won the Movie Star Festival Award for his supporting role as Miguel in the 2014 film Overtime.
Before his fame, he made his screen debut in 2011 in the GMA Network TV movie Blusang Itim. Early in his career, he also appeared frequently on GMA’s Sunday All Stars Variety Show.
Currently, Paras will be hosting GMA Network’s latest Game of the Gens game show with co-host Sef Cadayona on February 14.
